Ben Chambers is a Virginia Tech graduate in chemistry and started his first job teaching high school and community college math and sciences. His passion for chemistry and culinary sciences drew him out of the teaching environment and into developing condiment, sauce and dressing products for Tulkoff Foods from a testing lab and kitchen. It was here that Ben found a passion for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety programs such as HACCP. These skills and certifications served him well in his transition to MillerCoors in Golden, CO as Technical Maltster. There he controlled a large portion of the malting recipes used in all MillerCoors brands. Auditing toll maltster partners was a big part of the role. He earned certification as an internal Safe Quality Foods (SQF) auditor for the company assisting different breweries and business units in their certification process. While at MillerCoors he also earned his Lean Six Sigma Green Belt enabling him to work on defect reduction, cost reduction and throughput maximization. After several years in this role Ben decided to take his toolbox to the growing craft beer sector and worked in roles ranging from Director of Quality and Technical R&D to Director of Operations. Ben has established several sustained quality management systems, facilities and teams throughout many regional craft breweries. He has also developed several national award winning beers including the highest rated cannabis flavored beer, SweetWater 420 G13 Strain. Ben has most recently decided to take his toolbox yet again to a new and exciting growing industry, CBD processing. In March 2019 Ben joined the Blue Sky Processing team as Quality and Formulation Manager developing quality systems and products that would set the bar for the future of hemp processing and formulation in the state of South Carolina. In July, Ben took on the added role of Plant Manager, utilizing his lean background to not only maximize throughput/minimize cost, but also feedback continuous improvement suggestions to the engineers designing the systems for Delta 9 Technologies, the sister company of Blue Sky Processing.
